There used to also be a bridge (not the Roosevelt avenue Bridge which still exists) that went from College Point Blvd. into the swamp land surrounding the Casey Stengel Depot in the early '70s. This was close to the then operational Serval Zipper Co. with the iconic copper clock tower. The whole area reeked to high heaven in the summer with all the industrial pollution in the Flushing Bay inlet. Mutated amphibian memories... Let's go Mets!

The Kawasaki cars that replaced these were an out of the catalog product,Cleveland has the exact same cars in their subways,except theirs have pantographs instead of third rail shoes.

I remember riding these cars back in the early 70s. I didn’t know it at the time but they were more modern than the rolling stock in NYC!,and the cars in New York were alot newer! I still have a soft spot for them even now!

My grandfather recalled that in the mid-1940s, North Shore Bus ran what he described as a double-decker on the Q44. It turned out that the bi-level bus was a former Pickwick Stages intercity coach refitted as a city transit bus. North Shore became the NYC Board of Transportation Queens Division in 1947. I remember as a kid there used to be a conductor that would only say "watch the doors" and nothing else at each stop. I also remember conductors having to go back and forth between the 5th and 6th car to open doors on the B line. I believe he needed to be in the 5th car to opent he doors on the left side of the train, and the 6th car to open the doors on the right side.

Wonderful to see Bucharest all those years ago. I visited in 2018 and 2023 it’s changed a lot for the better. I love Bucharest and Romania. Speaking as a69 year old from south coast of England the city is just like any other western city today. Thank you for the insight into the past.

They say that congestion pricing was suppose to improve train service and improve signal etc etc...They been saying the same thing for DECADES and i have yet to see any type of "improvements"..In fact last night, there were major delays on NJ Transit...Congestion pricing is another scam from the MTA to try and get more money out of people's pockets....for once, this governor did something right

I was in Barbados, just married 2 years at that time!! I use to take the bus to Queens all the time, the Q44 bus!! Miss visiting Flushing, did a lot of shopping there!! Great times, great memories.
